9/21 Nos. 9, 11 (Vine Cottage),
- 13 (Swift Cottage), and 15


House, now 4 houses. C17 or earlier, late C17 gabled front extension
(Vine Cottage) with late C18 extension to W side of it (No. 9) which at
some time was 2 houses with added rear outshut. Late C20 N extension to
main range. Timber frame, now exposed only on W wall of E wing infilled
with red brick, red brick casing and exterior to extensions. Steep old
red tile roofs, hipped E wing. A 2-storeys L-shaped house facing S with
broad E crosswing projecting only to S and large internal chimney rising
through front slope of roof about a third from W end. W part of front
obscured by gabled 2-storeys projection with large external side-chimney
on E, and 2-storeys block extending to W with catslide rear outshut and
central internal chimney. This extension (No. 9) has symmetrical S front
of 2 casement windows to each floor and 2 battened doors next corners.
No. 11 has casement windows renewed and C20 porch. Set back in middle
No. 13 has a plank door between 2 small-panes casement windows in each
floor. E wing (No. 15) facing E with segmental front of 2 2-light
casement windows to each floor and central door. S end has a 2-lights
casement over a 3-lights casement window. This wing has an internal
chimney and a N gable internal chimney. Exposed framing and blocked
3-lights window on W wall. (Pevsner (1977)143).
