9/50 Blacksmith Cottage, and
- Lavender Cottage

House, now 2 houses. C17 or earlier, C18 NW block, divided and lean-to
rear (S) extension C20. Timber frame exposed on 1st floor at N, S sides,
and W end. Painted red brick ground floor and infill to frame at rear
and in E bay at front. E gable roughcast. Red brick NW block. Steep old
red tile roofs, main roof half-hipped at E, 2 parallel roof N-S on NW
block. 3-cells, internal chimney plan. A 2-storeys and attic main range
facing N with lower 2-storeys block at NW corner facing N. Small gabled
brick and tile N porch to each house at ends of N front. Blacksmith
Cottage in E part, and Lavender Cottage in W bay of main range and in NW
block. N front has irregular fenestration with 3 leaded casement windows
to 1st floor and 2 to ground floor and a large segmental bow window.
2-light casements to brick NW block with twin gables. E end has a canted
oriel window and a 2-lights casement for 1st floor. Timber framing
exposed at W end has truss of clasped-purlin roof. Bow window on ground
