Public house. C17 or earlier rear wing, C18 brick front to rear wing,
front block C18 or early C19. Timber frame exposed in rear (E) wall of
rear wing with red brick infill, dark weatherboarded S gable, red brick
chequered with black headers to W front of rear wing, red brick front
block with painted plaster facing. Steep old red tile roof to rear wing,
slated roof to front block. A 2-storeys and cellar, end-chimneys, front
block facing N onto road with lower 2-storeys older wing extending to S
and facing W. Flat roofed extensions on E side not of special interest.
N front symmetrical 2-windows with central entrance. Flush casement
windows to 1st floor. Half-glazed door flanked by flush box sash windows
with 8/8 panes. Cellar flap under LH window. Louvred shutters to ground
floor. W front of rear wing has 2 windows to each floor with 3-lights
casements and segmental arches to ground floor. Internal chimney in
centre. Plank doors in heavy frames to each end of front. Well with
wooden winding gear and chain in front. Rear wall of old wing has
exposed frame with mid-height rail and wide-spaced studs.
