Barn. C17. Timber frame with red brick sill and dark weatherboarding.
Steep old red tile roof. A tall 5 bay barn facing S. Jowled posts with
hollow chamfer to chin. Long straight braces to tie-beams. 2 purlins to
each slope of roof, the upper clasped by a high collar with principals
diminished above. The lower butt jointed to principals just below
junction of inclined straight strut across corner of truss. Mid-height
rails tenoned in-line. Large unjowled post in middle of each bay. Butt
purlins staggered in-line. Straight wind braces to lower purlin only in
central bay with double doors on S and small door on N sides. Farmhouse
not of special interest. Site transfered from Northchurch parish in
boundary change 1st April 1985.
