Pair of gate lodges each side of entrance gates. Early-mid C19,
predating present house; the gates C20. Yellow stock brick.
Slate hipped roofs with central tall chimney stacks. Single
storey. Facades facing drive have flush panel doors with flat
hoods on scrolled brackets, set in shallow projections. Single
recessed sash windows with cambered heads each side. Similar
windows to road elevation and to L-shaped rear block on left
lodge. Gate piers in banded brick and with stone vase finials.
Wrought iron double gates with elaborate overthrow. The lodge
and gates are an important group on the S approach to Essendon.
