Large house of late C17 origin, now 2 properties. Formerly
school. Red brick on left side (Moffats), painted brick on
right (The White House). 2 storeys and attics. Parapet and
slate hipped roof. Early C19 5-window road elevation has
recessed 6/6-pane sash windows with gauged brick heads. Early
C18 entrance elevation to Moffats has truncated gable end with 2
windows. Porch is early C19 addition and has re-used Adam style
columned surround, the columns with fluted necking and the frieze
with acanthus swags. Moulded and fielded 6-panel door. Interior
behind porch has large early C18 open well staircase with barley
twist balusters and newel posts. The White House has a doorcase
with reused fluted Ionic pilasters and a right extension of
early-mid C19. A square ridge chimney stack has late C17
brickwork.
