Wrongly shown on OS map as Chorleywood Road. Public House. Probably C16
in origins. Largely rebuilt in C17, cased C18, extended C19 and C20.
Timber frame, rendered and part brick cased. Tiled roof. Early 2 bay
cross wing to right, 2 bay lobby entry main range rebuilt in C17. All 2
storeys. Central entrance with raking hood. Flanking ground floor 4
light casements. Two first floor 3 light casements, all with leaded
lights. Steeply pitched roof, original axial cruciform stack. Roof
hipped down to right over lower cross wing which has brick cased ground
floor. Right return: ground floor horizontal sliding sash and entrance
towards rear. To left of main range a C19 1 storey and attic wing, 4
light casement, entrance, hipped dormer. C20 wing to rear of cross wing.
Interior: ground floor stop chamfered binding beams, exposed post, first
floor not inspected. (RCHM Typescript).
