Power house on River Chess, now used as stabling. c.1880. Stock brick.
Pyramidal slate roof. Square on plan. Entrance to NE with a cambered
head and a 16 pane iron glazing bar window. Blocked entrance to NW and a
window with a cambered head. Boxed eaves. Louvred cap to roof. Interior:
main cast-iron wheel of 10 foot diameter and 2 foot width with 36 paddle
blades drives a 3 cylinder pump over a well. Weatherboarded lean-to
outshuts of no special interest. (W. Branch Johnson, Industrial
