House. Late C16 or early C17. Refronted and extended in early C18.
Timber frame. Whitewashed brick nogging, casing and additions, part
roughcast. Tiled roofs. L plan, 3 bay ranges with additions inside
angle. 2 storeys. Roughcast front. Central entrance with early C19
moulded doorcase and bracketed hood. Flanking 16 pane glazing bar sashes
with cambered heads. First floor 8 pane sashes in flush frame
architraves. Plinth. Dentilled brick eaves. Hipped roof. Right end stack
extruded with a first floor sash towards front and a ground floor sash
towards rear. Cross wing to left. Left return: central entrance blocked,
exposed posts, rail and studs, large panels, mixed sashes and casements.
Entrance towards rear. Between 2 bays nearest front is a large axial
ridge stack. Rear gable end of cross wing has exposed framing, braces to
tie beams, evidence of clasped purlin roof. Added to inner elevation of
cross wing is an early C18 block with a separate hipped roof. 2 bays to
rear. Ground floor 2 light casements and an entrance with cambered head.
First floor sash and blind opening with cambered heads. Corbelled out
stack. Dentilled brick eaves. Attached to rear of front range and
adjoining this C18 block is a timber framed block, perhaps a stair wing.
Ground floor 2 light casements, first floor sash, exposed frame with
smaller scantling and irregular panels. Hipped roof. Interior not
inspected.
