House. Late C16 origins. Extended and heated in C17. Cased, part rebuilt
and extended mid C18. Extended and altered C20. Timber frame. Red brick
casing and rear extension. Tiled roofs. 2 bay core extended to right and
rear in C17 and C18. 2 storeys. Entrance in C17 bay to right. 3 light
casements, 2 windows in early range, ground floor cambered heads. Eaves
cornice. C17 stack behind ridge at original right end. Rendered lean-to
on roughcast right gable end. 1 bay C20 addition to left with tilehung
gable. To rear catslide roof over C17 lean-to outshut to rear of C16
range. C18 2 storey wing to rear of C17 bay, 3 light casements, ground
floor cambered head, tilehung rear gable. C17 bay has a separately
pitched roof to rear. Interior: 2 diamond mullioned window frames in
original rear wall, one moulded mullion, braces from jowled posts to
cambered tie beams, angled struts replacing earlier queen struts and
collars clasp purlins, windbraces. Formerly Rose and Crown Public House.
