House. Circa 1907. By Forsyth & Maule for Vernon A Malcolmson
of Aston Bury (q.v.). Roughcast with steep hand made tile roofs.
A large, 2-storeys austere Arts and Crafts house facing S,
influenced by the local vernacular. Projecting gabled and
jettied crosswing on left with massive red brick chimney in the
front slope of the roof at the junction of the wing. The roof
runs down between 3 more large front gables, the right hand one
sloping down as a catslide to right. One window on each floor in
each gable. 3-light and 4-light oak mullioned windows with
leaded glazing in iron casements. Central entrance by part-
glazed door. Very large projecting red brick chimney at rear.
V-shaped wooden rainwater gutters and wooden box-downpipes. Oak
beams and inglenooks. 2 staircases, E part originally designed
as a separate small house. Oak doors with latches. A house of
considerable quality using local materials in traditional manner.
