GV II

Lych gate. Circa 1919 for Canon Mills rectue in memory of son
and others killed in Great War. Oak timber frame on a knapped
flint waist-high plinth with limestone capping, quoins, and
buttress offsets. Red tile steep roof gabled to front. A
shallow covered gateway with oak boarded double gates, and 2
benches inside. Moulded bargeboards. 2 scissor-braced
principals with ogee braces from corner posts to undersides of
braces. Cusped lozenge-shaped bracing in E gable with raised-
lettered inscription on board with embattled cresting.
