4/9 Holmes Farmhouse

House. Cl7 or earlier. Timber frame on brick sill, roughcast
with steep old red tile roofs. Ground floor at front cased in
C18 red brick. A tall 2-storeys house facing E with a higher
crosswing at N and rear outshot. Gabled crosswing has 2-storeys,
attic and cellar, with staircase in rear part. Door next
crosswing and large central chimney rising through front slope
leaving only a narrow room between it and S end. One window to
each floor in house and crosswing. 3-light flush casement
windows with 2-light to attic. Side-purlin roof structure. 3-
light diamond mullioned window in N wall of crosswing. Later
internal chimney at N end.
