TL 3528 ASPENDEN THE STREET

House. Late C17. Timber frame on stuccoed sill, plastered with
varied basketwork pargetting above a weatherboarded apron. Steep
old red tile roof. A one and a half storeys and cellar, 3 cells,
central-chimney, lobby-entry plan house facing Central
chimney a third from E end, with axial beams supporting floors.
2 front windows flanking half-glazed, 4 panel door up steps with
hood on cut brackets. 3-light flush casement windows. W room
and chamber over lit from gable. 2 gabled dormers at front
eaves. Exposed joists and framework inside. Chamfered beams
with curve-and-notch stops. C19 parlour chimney built backing
onto central stack which heats hall. Face-halved bladed scarf
joint in front wallplate. House of Shem Nicholls, Cooper in
early C20.
