House. Circa 1700, altered early C19, N part of front early C20
replacing a butcher's shop. Composite construction of timber
frame roughcast but red and blue chequered brick front to S part
of street front. Red brick later N part. Steep old red tile
roof. A 2 storeys and cellars, 3-cells, central chimney plan
house facing W. Chimney altered for a through passage in early
C19. Front in 2 parts. Longer and earlier S part with blue
headers a symmetrical composition of 3 windows and central door
with plinth, floor band and red gauged brick flat arches . Flush
box sashed upper window with 6/6 panes and moulded architraves.
Lower windows flanking door widened in early C19 for recessed
triple sash windows with plastered reveals, reeded mullions and
small panes. 6-panel door with glazed top panels, moulded middle
and flush beaded bottom panels. 2 steps up. Moulded eared
surround with frieze and dentilled triangular pediment. Shorter
N part of front has matching floorband and plinth. A recessed
sash window on each floor with 2/2 panes and flat arch, an half-
glazed door with fanlight, and a 4-panel flush-beaded passage-
door at N end. Sun firemark No 154532 on older part of front
dates from a policy of 1756. (RCHM Typescript).
