22.2.67 Dovecote at Broom Manor
40 m to ESE of house
Dovecote. Circa 1700. Red brick chequered with black headers
under a steep pyramidial old red tile roof with bellcast eaves
and square louvred wooden lantern with pyramidial tiled cap. A
tall square single-storey building with thirteen and a half inch
thick walls, roughly plastered internally. Projecting brick
plinth. Upright oval central opening high up on N, S and E faces
with red and black arch-ring. E opening blocked. Tall central
doorway on W face under a flat pointed brick arch. Heavy rebated
oak doorframe. Boarded door. Roof carried on heavy hip rafters
Curved braces across corners of wallplates.
