A range of houses, now 4 houses. C17 or earlier, altered in C18
and C19. Timber frames on brick sills, roughcast with dark
weatherboarded aprons. Steep thatched roofs. Nos 1 (at E), 3,
and 4 of one and a half storeys with eyebrow dormers at the
eaves: No 2 of 2-storeys; all facing N. Central chimneys and
axial floor beams. No 1 has a large central chimney with brick
oven projecting at front flanked by 2-light flush casement
windows with lattice leading. Plank door near each end of front.
E gable half-hipped and faced in red brick up to wallplate level.
Taller No2 has a central chimney rising through the rear slope
heating the E room and stair to N of it to W of entrance. Front
has 2 flush Yorkshire sliding casement windows to each floor and
a plank door beside each of the lower windows. Lower houses to W
have 4 dormers, 3 chimneys, 3 plank doors and a front outshut to
NW corner. A most picturesque thatched group.
