Tea House. 1905 brought from Japan and erected for Herbert Goode
(1865-1937) a wealthy glass and china merchant who began the
Japanese Garden in 1905. Timber frame raised over stone slabs
with outstretching hipped roof carried on outer posts. A single-
storey small pavilion with sliding doors along front and narrow
external verandah. A building intended for the Tea Ceremony
(CHA-NO-YU). Interior finely finished with traditional floor
mats and built-in buffet. (Japanese Garden (1933) 17).
