Shinto shrine. Early C20, or earlier, made in Japan for Herbert
Goode (1865-1937) who began the Japanese Garden in 1905. Timber
carved and stained black. A small Shinto Shrine correct in all
details, of the type called AZUMI-INARI (Fox Shrine), sacred to
the God of Prosperity. (Japanese Garden (1933) 15).
