House. '1860' on quatrefoil datestone in front gable. A small
red brick, Gothic estate cottage facing N, short single storey on
W of wide one and a half storeys cross wing with gable to road.
45 degree pitched slate roofs with heavy painted bargeboards and
tall red brick chimney with moulded cap and base. 2-light and 3-
light tall mullioned wooden windows with cast iron diamond
lattice casements, gauged flat arches and flush stone sills.
Datestone set below sill of upper window in cross wing. Porch in
angle extended in brickwork. This house appears to have been an
experimental flatter pitched variation of the type standard on
the Gilston Park Estate under John Hodgson. Part of a
picturesque group opposite the Plume of Feathers P H. Included
for group value.
