2 houses adjoining. C16 cottage of 2 bays (No 1), possibly the
Warren House mentioned in 1667 (HLHS (1979) 35). No 1 was
remodelled when No 2 was built in the early C19 to form a semi-
detached pair. 2 storeys. 2 gabled bays to road with entrance
extension to No 2. Tiled roofs with C19 red brick stacks.
Timberframed with rendered fronts. 2-light iron casements with
leaded lights. C19 doorways with hood. No 1 retains original
C16 roof with square crown post with slender curved braces up to
collar purlin. No 2 with C19 rafter and purlin roof. The C18
Speller family of Hunsdon probably acquired the property in the
1840s and may have been responsible for the additions and
remodelling. A picturesque pair of semi-detached estate cottages
formed by the extension and disguising of a C16 cottage c1840.
Part of a group with Spellers, and with Rosella to NE.
