Coach house, now a house. 1899. For G S Pawle Esq by H A Pelly. Grey brick
slate roofs. A U-shaped stable and coach-house group facing N with 2 storeys
central block with hipped roof and overhanging eaves. I storey pitched roof
gabled wings to E and W of different widths. W wing domestic with large central
chimney and windows facing out. E wing has a square louvred cupola with moulded
cornice, pyramid roof and ornamental wrought iron vane. Decorative Arts and
Crafts bargeboards on N with collar and grid infill. Similar bargeboard to
larger pitched slate roof over the yard projects to N. Segmental yellow gauged
arches. Mullion wooden casement windows. Now converted to a house by glazing
coach-house doorways. A picturesque stable group of special architectural
interest. Part of the group around Ash View Rest Home in this part of the
Conservation Area. Included for group value.
