House. Later C17, N end C19 altered to single storey in C20. Timber
frame on black plastered plinth, roughcast with dark weatherboarded S
end and steep thatched roof. A long, 2-storeys, originally 3-cells,
internal-chimney, lobby-entry plan house, extended by one bay to N and
by rear outshuts, facing W with an annular wellhead just outside front
door. 4 windows to each floor, battened door in middle with a gabled
thatched hood, 2-light flush casements, upper 2 to left and lower 2 to
right have small-paned cast iron casements, wooden divided casements to
upper right, steel casements to lower left, French window with
sidelights to single-volume N end with internal gable chimney. Interior
has stepped jowled posts, clasped-purlin roof and face-halved bladed
scarf joint in wallplate. Chamfered axial floor beams and squared
joists. Back-to-back fireplaces with plastered conical chimney in narrow
bay on 1st floor. Fireplace has 2 recesses in back with rounded corbels
to head and similar shaped lower lip. Former S service-room thrown into
middle room and a single long chamfered axial beam inserted.
