- (45 m S of track to
Stonebury Farm)

Milestone. Circa 1742 for Wadesmill Turnpike Trust, front covered by
iron lettered plate c.1804 possibly to design of McAdam. White
freestone with cast iron plate. A rectangular pillar of stone facing E,
about 400 mm x 350 mm and about 900 mm high, with large front plate and
top of stone rounded when viewed from front. Segmental top to plate and
raised edge bead and inscription 'LONDON/30/WARE/9/BARKWAY/5'. The first
and last names raised in segmental arcs. (Branch Johnson (1970) 109-10).
