Milestone. Circa 1742 for Wadesmill Turnpike Trust, front covered by
iron lettered plate c.1804 possibly to design of McAdam. White freestone
with cast iron plate. A rectangular pillar of stone at back of footpath
facing E, about 400 mm x 350 mm and 750 mm high, with large front plate
and top of stone rounded when viewed from front. Segmental top to plate
and raised edge bead and inscription 'LONDON/31/WARE/10/BARKWAY/4'.
