West of Judds

GV II

Barn. C16 or early C17. Timber frame on brick sill, dark weatherboarded
with a steep half-hipped thatch roof. A tall 5-bays, rear aisled barn
facing E into farmyard with double doors in the middle bay but no
winnowing door at rear of aisle. Jowled posts with long curved braces to
cambered tie-beams and arcade plate. Face-halved bladed scarf in arcade
plate. Clasped purlin roof with single purlin to each slope and one
curved wind-brace to each bay but two in middle bay. Aisle-ties with
brace up to back of arcade post. Single curved tension brace in each bay
of aisle wall.
