House. C17 or earlier, W bay and porch c.1950, E extension 1974-5.
Timber frame on black stuccoed sill, plastered with panelled pargetting.
Steep old red tile roofs. A 3-cells, internal-chimney, lobby entry plan
house facing N with chimney originally a third from W end and
extensions, 3-storeys at W and a lean-to at E end. Stair in gabled
turret to rear of chimney. N front is 4 windows long with tiled gabled
porch to door in front of chimney. 2-light flush small-panes casement
windows. Boarded door with small window beside it. Red brick central
chimney. Sill steps down at W bay. Interior has a wide chimney-bay with
back-to-back fireplaces, crossbeam and exposed joists in hall, axial
beam and exposed joists in E services room with infilled cellar under.
Jowled posts, straight tension braces, face-halved bladed scarf in
wallplate but edge halved scarf in old W bay. Clasped purlin roof on
collar trusses. No smoke blackening.
