GV II

Walls of walled garden, part of Hatfield Polytechnic Field Station Experimental Area at time of listing. Early C19. Red brick in Flemish-bond, knapped flint panels in gate piers. A large symmetrical enclosure of 3M high walls, elongated E-W and with canted ends at E and W. Wrought iron decorative gate central between tall piers at E end. 3 doors in centre of E, N and S sides with segmental arch over with stone keyblock. Recessed uncoursed knapped flintwork in large panel on inside and outside of each of pairs of piers flanking each entrance. Moulded copings and plinth.
