Farmhouse. C16 former open hall house, floor inserted C18, rear
extensions to form a new symmetrical N front C19. Timber frame
roughcast, painted brick casing up to heads of ground floor windows. N
extensions in painted brickwork. Steep old red tile roofs half-hipped at
E end. A long, 1½-storeys, internal chimney plan house in an isolated
farmstead, entered from S but with C19 N extension with single-storey
centre between 2 lower wings ending in canted bay windows. Gabled dormer
central on main roof. S front has 4 gabled dormers at eaves. 5 windows
at ground floor, 2-canted and one rectangular bay windows. Door near W
end flanked by 2-lights casement windows. 5 structural bays with
entrance into 2nd from W. W bay axially divided. Axial chamfered beams
with hollow stops. Exposed posts in walls. N extension has encaustic
tiles, coloured glass margin to leaded lancet lights. 2-panel
ovolo-moulded door. Edge-halved scarf joint with bridled butts in old
wallplate. Old strap hinges to doors.
