Late C17 timberframed plastered house with end to street and facing E.
Extended to N in C18 and c.1810-20 organ room added as cross-wing to N.
2 storeys, attic and cellar. Steep old red tile roof hipped with plastered
gablet on S. Large central chimney stack with former gable stack on N of
original 5 window part. Panelled pargetting over low plinth with wood
modillioned eaves cornice. C18 flush box sashes with moulded architraves
and 6/6 panes. Central door with early C19,3-light sash window each side
with 2/2:6/6:2/2 panes. C18,6-panelled door, top 2 glazed. Panelled
pilasters support scrolled brackets and flat entablature over door. Frieze
has low relief decoration of urn and swags and breaks forward over each
truss. Street end plastered over plinth, lined as ashlar. Modillioned
eaves. Single 1st floor sash window 6/6 to rear room. C19, 4/4 sash in
gablet. 1 window 2-storey C18 extension to N links to C19 slate roofed
1 storey cross-wing with eaves at the same level and lateral stack on N
side flanked by large sash windows. Old part of house has 4 panelled rooms
on 2 floors. Cast iron pump with handle, at rear. Cusped stone tracery in
rockery said to be from C19 restoration of parish church. New deeds said to
have been provided in 1702.
