Early C19 or older. Long 2 storey slate roofed range along street front.
Gd floor front of brick with timberframed upper floor. S half is a 3
window stucco house with large central chimney and door a little N of
centre. Plastered plinth with gratings and cast iron grilles to cellar
windows. Overhanging eaves. Flush sash windows with moulded architraves
and 3/6 panes to 1st floor. Larger recessed sash windows with 8/8 panes
to Gd floor. Wide doorway with thin pilasters and smallbrackets supporting
flat moulded hood. 6 panel door with side lights and narrow fanlight. The
Gd floor windows and door are offset to N, presumably to allow for the large
external gable chimney of No 35. The N half of the building is weatherboarded
above and colourwashed brick below over a continuation of the plinth. Heavy
frame and double plank doors to carriageway at N end. Narrow doorcase and
panelled door against house 2 flush 3 pane hopper windows to Gd floor.
2 square flush windows to 1st floor. C19, 6 pane centre hung sashes.
Slightly higher slate roofed rear range to house with polygonal bay to
yard. Unusual survival of house and business premises. Urbane contribution
to street scene.
