Cl7 or earlier with C18 external features. Timberframed over rendered
brick base. N end weatherboarded, front plastered. Steep hipped old red
tile roof. Large central chimney stack opposite door and nearer S end.
Stack rebuilt above roof but appears to be entirely in front slope of
roof. Lateral stack at rear to N part. Front has eaves cornice, 2
storeys and cellar, 3 windows. 1st floor outer windows 3 light casements,
2 light central over door. Gd floor has large window to S possibly a
C19 shop window with modern casement. 3 light Victorian sash window to N
with small C18 door between it and corner. 6 panelled raised and fielded
door with top 2 panels glazed. Heavy frame with architrave and board
over. Main door similar but with early C18 triangular pedimented hood on
bold shaped brackets with Greek-key frieze and heavy raking mouldings. 2
stone steps. No 38 adjacent may have been a crosswing to this building at
an earlier stage. Part of important group on N side of street.
