Block of 10 almshouses, now 5. C18. Timber frame white
weatherboarded on high red brick sill. Steep hipped roof now
dark tiled, formerly thatched. A long narrow block, single
storey, facing S. Handed pairs of houses with 5 shared chimneys
and 10 boarded doors remote from fireplaces. Each has a small
flush casement window of 2 lights with small panes. Pairs of
houses now combined. Said to have originally formed outbuildings
to Standon Workhouse disused after the Poor Law Act 1834 (VCH
(1912) 350).
