GV II

Village pump. C18 or early C19. Cast iron spout, wooden casing,
wrought iron handle. A 2m tall rectangular wooden-cased pump,
with plinth and overhanging cap also in wood. Large spout on E
face moulded with bucket spur and elaborate leaf ornament. Spout
plugged. On N side a long sinuous iron handle with large oval
terminal weight. Fulcrum within casing. Picturesque centrepiece
to village square.
