House, now a public house. C16 S wing, early C17 main range.
Timber frame roughcast on high brick plinth. Steep old red tile
roof hipped at S end, half-hipped at N. 3 unit central chimney
plan house facing W incorporating earlier crosswing at S
projecting only to rear. 2 storeys, 4 windows long, with a 3-
light flush casement window to 1st floor at N end and 3 flush box
sash windows with 8/8 panes. Door up 4 steps has 2 margin-light
sash windows to right and a canted bay window to left with 2
casement windows to N part beyond. 4-panel half-glazed door.
Lean-to at N end plastered and tiled. External gable chimney at
N end and gable chimney to E end of crosswing at S. Interior has
open fireplaces, chamfered axial beams with hollow and bar stop,
C17 moulded plank door to stair, and smoke blackened rafters
reused in roof of main range. Name possibly from meetings of
Worshipful Co. of Carpenters c1800.
