5/26 Stockholds

House. C15 open hall; floored, extended and made 4 cottages in
C18, renovated and made one house c1973. Timber frames on brick
sills with N part weatherboarded on N end and apron at rear but
panelled plaster pargetting to front. C18 S part roughcast with
weatherboarded apron. Steep old red tile roofs (replacing thatch
in C20). A long narrow building facing W, with one and a half
storeys older N part and 2-storeys C18 S part. A 3-bay C15
former open-hall has an C18 parlour bay extension on N end with
shared central chimney, and a 2-storeys, central-chimney, block
(formerly 2 houses) built at S end replacing older service rooms.
Catslide outshut at rear on SE. The N part has 3 windows, 2
small gabled dormers on roof slope, and a glazed small-paned door
into the N parlour. The window to the left and that on the N end
are 2-light flush casements with cast iron opening lights. S
part has 2-light flush casement windows, 2 on 1st floor and 3 on
ground floor with battened door on left with small flat hood.
Hipped, tiled single-storey garage at SE set back. Roof of N
part smoke blackened with collar rafter roof possibly once with
crown-post and collar-purlin. Heavy arched braces to central
truss of hall, formerly infilled above the tie-beam. Exposed
wall framing and C18 inserted floor structure.
