House. C16 E wing (now roofed in line with hall), late C16 or
early C17 hall and W crosswing, altered late C18 and late C20.
Timber frame plastered with weatherboarded apex to gables of W
wing. Steep old red tile roofs. A 2-bay E parlour wing with
late 2-storeys hall and W service wing. Lobby entry from N with
C18 stair and small central chimney probably replacing a timber
framed larger double smokehood. Late C18 external gable chimney
at E end for a kitchen and W wing divided probably at same time.
N front has 3 windows to each floor and small window over lean-to
C20 porch in the angle of the projecting gabled wing on the
right. C20 flush 2-light casements. 3 windows on each floor at
S with small hoods and leaded glazing. Half-glazed door with
small hood in middle of hall range. One tie-beam survives of
former transverse roof of E wing. 2-bay clasped-purlin roof with
wind braces in W wing. Exposed framing on ground floor. 3-bay
C17 barn attached to E end converted to domestic use. Farmhouse
named The Pond House in mid C20. (RCHM Typescript).
