House, now 2 houses. C17 or earlier. Timber frame roughcast
with panelled stucco sill. Steep old red tile roof half-hipped
at W. Formerly a 3-unit house with C17 central chimney a third
from E end and external gable chimney at W. 2-storeys, with
timber framed C17 rear wing at W end partly faced in red brick
(sometime used as a smithy). High-set side-purlin roof with
wallplate end carried on elaborately shaped bracket at NE. N
front divided into 2 C18 houses with symmetrical arrangements
about 2 identical doors. On left (No 1) has casement windows
with 2 old 2-light leaded windows with iron casements on 1st
floor. No 2 has 3 flush box sash windows with 8/8 panes and
architrave on 1st floor and similar ones flanking the door. 6-
panelflush beaded doors each with moulded surround, swelled
frieze, projecting cornice and swept metal hip over. C18 small
central chimney just behind ridge and extra flue built onto E
side of old central chimney which has a triangular pilaster on
the broad N and S faces.
