II
House, extended, now part used as offices. Late C16 or early C17,
extended C18, altered early C20. Timber frame, extended and part rebuilt
in brick, all roughcast. Tiled roofs. Originally 3 bays. 2 storeys.
Ground floor: central entrance, horizontal sliding sash to left. First
floor: small horizontal sliding sashes to centre and left. Right bay has
a C20 shop window projection under a catslide roof. C18 block attached
to left is 3 bays. 2 storeys and attic, taller with a steeply pitched
roof, projecting slightly forward and on a different axis. Central
recessed architraved door, flanking full height early C20 rectangular
bays with tripartite sashes and gabled heads. Horizontal sliding sash in
right end attic. Left end casements. To rear of original range, lean-to
outshuts under catslide roofs to left, right bay has a separately
pitched roof and an external stack with offsets and a rebuilt cap. To
rear left of C18 block an external stack with offsets. A full height
wing projects to rear. Interior: original range has jowled posts to
cambered tie beams, clasped purlin roof with curved windbraces. C18
block has stop chamfered binding beams, staircase with moulded handrail.
