House, formerly groom's cottage to Newsells Park. Mid C17, extended C19
and C20. Timber frame on brick base. Rendered. Steeply pitched thatched
roof. Originally 3 bay lobby entry with 2 bays added to right. 1 storey
and attic. Entrance to centre of original building, recessed plank door,
12 pane fixed casement to left, 3 light flush frame small pane casement
to far left, 2 light casement and a 2 light dormer with eyebrow
thatching to right. Added bays further right have scattered casements
and an entrance. Ridge stack, rebuilt at head. Left gable end faces road
with high brick and flint plinth, 2 light casements with exposed plates
and purlins. To rear: entrance bay has a C19 extruded stack, 2 light
casements and an entrance. Interior: exposed framing, bar stop chamfered
bearers and joists, passing tension braces, re-used C18 cyma moulded
fireplace lintel. Jowled posts, cambered tie beams, angled queen posts
to principals. Newsells Park House is not listed.
