Barn group. C17. Timber frame on low brick sill, dark weatherboarded,
chequered brick wall on W side, steep old red tile roofs. A tall
U-shaped range forming the N, E and northern half of W side of farm
courtyard linked to N wing of farmhouse at SW. N range a 5-bays barn
with gabled N porch in middle with opposed double doors. Jowled posts,
unjowled mid-bay posts, staggered mid-height rail, long straight braces
to cambered tie-beams. Single purlin to each roofslope carried on
queen-posts. Lower hipped lean-to open sheds on S in corner of court.
Contemporary E and W ranges overlap ends of N barn and present gables to
N 2-storeys granary and dairy in W range. Barn in E range with gabled
porch on E with opposed double doors. Similar construction to N barn.
Long strait braces in walls. Face halved bladed scarf joints in
wallplates over bay posts.
