GV II

Barn. C17. Timber frame on brick sill, dark weatherboarded, with steep
pitched tiled roof. A tall 3-bays barn, at rear of yard facing S, with
double doors in middle bay and rear outshut to that bay under a catslide
extension of the main roof. Very heavy jowled posts, unjowled mid-bay
posts, staggered mid-height rail, long cranked braces to tie-beams of
clasped-purlin roof. Face-halved bladed scarf joints in wallplates over
posts. C19 king-post trusses inserted alongside older trusses to take
part of load.
