House. C17 hall range formerly jettied to front; W crosswing mid/later
C17; C18 brick underbuilding of jetty casing of ground floor of wing and
E end and rear extension to wing. Timber frame exposed on 1st floor, red
brick ground floor and rear part of wing, remains of roughcast to E end.
Steep old red tile roofs. A 2-storeys L-shaped house facing N. 2-bays
hall range is of 2 unequal structural bays with axial floor beams,
former continuous front jetty, entrance now into E side of larger W bay
which has a large formerly external W gable chimney, and rear door
opposite. Trimming for stair in NW corner of smaller E bay. Second
chimney to serve wing added onto back of W stack and crosswing of one
large bay built to W without a jetty and leaving space in front and to
rear of joint stack for lobby-entry? and stair? N front has 3 windows
to each floor. 3-lights flush casement windows with divided panes. Door
in middle of hall range. Cruciform large chimney above roof. Interior
has exposed structural timbers with hall range having jowled posts,
straight tension-braces to walls, axial floor beams. Crosswing has
jowled posts, the same long tension braces to walls, and clasped-purlin
roof on gable truss with collar.
