Farm and stable adjoining

Barn and stable. C17 barn, early C18 stable. Timber frame on low brick
sill, dark weatherboarded with steep pitched roof now of slate. A tall
5-bays barn facing S. Jowled posts, mid-height rail jointed in-line.
Curved braces to cambered tie-beams. Clasped-purlin roof with one purlin
to each slope carried on collar trusses with queen-struts. Heavy
straight tension braces in middle bay S side over rail with pitching
door between and winnowing door below. 6-bays early C18 stable heavy
cambered tie-beams, inclined queen-posts supporting single purlin in
each slope.
