GV II

Barn. Early C17. Timber on low brick sill, dark weatherboarded with
steep pitched old red tile roofs. A tall 5-bays barn facing S with
central double doors and lower gabled rear projection to same bay.
Stepped jowled posts, heavy curved tension braces in walls, long curved
braces to cambered tie-beams. Upright queen-struts to collar in trusses
supporting clasped-purlin roof with upper purlin clasped by collar but
lower purlin butt-jointed. Straight windbraces above lower purlin.
Face-halved bladed scarf joint in wallplate. Some coursed-pebble infill
panels to W end.
