Stable block. C18, possibly by Sir William Chambers who was working here
c.1764 for Thomas Brand. Red brick with some blue bricks and light red
brick dressings. Wooden eaves cornice and pediment. Portland stone
imposts to arches. Slate roofs. A 2-storeys pedimented block flanked by
single-storey aisles with side-pediments interrupted by central block.
Facing E and partly obscured by derelict buildings of former slaughter
house. Centre has 3 large round arched double-doorways for coaches, with
3 sash windows over with 4/4 panes and flat gauged arches. Stable doors
in sidewalls of aisles. Rear has projecting centre with brick moulded
pediment and 3 windows.
