GV II

Barn. Mid C17. Timber frame on brick sill, dark weatherboarded and steep
pitched corrugated iron roof. A 5-bays single-aisled barn facing N with
central N double doors recessed for the depth of the N aisle. Jowled
bay-posts and arcade-posts, long curved braces to tie-beams and arcade
plate. Clasped-purlin roof with 2 purlins to each slope of roof. Upper
purlin carried on high collars, lower purlin on convex curved
queen-posts inside but on lower collar at gable ends. Similar convex
curved queen-posts support aisle-purlin carried on aisle-ties. Straight
tension braces in walls.
