House. Late C17, enlarged in C19 and 1980s. Timber frame on brick sill
exposed on N end and E front with red brick infill, red brick casing to
S part and red brick C20 rear wing. Steep thatched roofs with decorative
ridge. A 1 1/2-storeys T-shaped house facing E with S gable to West Street.
E front has framing of 3 unequal bays with staggered mid-height rail.
Gabled dormer, 2-light casement windows, rectangular oriel to right. N
gable has jowled posts and straight tension braces to sill.
Clasped-purlin roof on collar. Timber framed rear outshut. 2-light
casement window in gable. S gable in brick with segmental arches to 2
2-light windows and plaque of lion rampant for Sowerby Estate. Deep
boarding bargeboards to thatch. Entrance in S side of new rear wing.
