House. C16 or earlier E crosswing, lower hall range probably C17 but
brick cased. C19 alterations. Timber frame exposed externally only on E
and N sides of crosswing, early C18 chequered red and grey brickwork to
ground and 1st floor of S front of crosswing but gable above roughcast.
Hall range to W cased in C19 red brick in Flemish-bond. Steep old red
tile roofs. A 1 1/2-storeys hall range facing S with 2-storeys gabled E
crosswing projecting to front. Very large English-bond narrow red brick
chimney to E end (rear bay) of 2-bays crosswing. S front has plat band
and plinth to brick front of wing with 3-lights flush casement window to
1st floor and segmental arches to 2 2-lights flush casements to ground
floor. Entrance under tiled gabled hood into lobby by central chimney. 2
gables to 2 upper windows of 2-lights casements across line of eaves. 2-
and 3-lights casements under segmental arches to ground floor and W
lean-to. E and N sides of wing have close-studding to 1st floor. Boards
to represent heavy tension braces have been coach screwed to outside of
studs at rear, plastered infill panels. Purlin ends show the wing to
have a side-purlin roof.
