TL 10 NW REDBOURN HILL FARM LANE
9/217 Bohemia Hill Farmhouse
Farmhouse. Late C15 or early C16 hall house. C16 former cross
wing on E. C17 and C18 brick extensions each end to form single
long range. Painted brick. 2 storeys and attics. N elevation
has 4 bays of exposed timber frame,continuous rail and widely
spaced broad studs. Central 2 bays are the former hall, the
right bay with curved braces. Ground floor painted brick. 5
recent glazing bar casements; C17 gabled dormer. Brick
extensions have tall plinths, the E end with C17 stack, the S end
a barn. C17 stack inserted to middle of range. Rear has a
single storey gabled projection incorporating a C17 staircase.
Internally the roof structure of the central 2 bays has sooting.
2 large tie beams, formerly with curved braces. Probably a crown
post roof concealed. Floor joists to hall section have hollow
chamfers. C17 stack near N wall.
